About microneedling

What is microneedling?

Microneedling uses a pen with very fine needles that make tiny, shallow channels in the skin, and a serum is applied during the treatment.

Does microneedling hurt, and is there downtime?

A numbing cream goes on first, so most people feel pressure and a light scratching, not pain.

Afterwards the skin looks and feels like a mild sunburn, and the redness usually settles within a few days. Most people go back to their normal day, wait a day before wearing makeup, and keep out of the sun while the skin settles.

Is 40 too old for microneedling?

No. There is no upper age for microneedling. What matters is the condition of your skin and your health, and that is what the consultation is for.

Who should not have microneedling?

It is generally not done over active acne, a cold sore or a flare-up of eczema or psoriasis, or for people who form raised scars easily. Tell Jiman about any medicine you take, especially isotretinoin or blood thinners, and whether you are pregnant. She may ask you to check with your doctor first.
