Your skin may appear red, tight, dry or sensitive after microneedling. Recovery varies with needle depth and treatment type.
FIRST 24 HOURS
- Use only the gentle products specifically approved by your treating professional. Keep hands, tools and pillowcases clean.
- Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours, or longer if instructed.
- Avoid sweating, strenuous workouts, saunas, hot tubs, hot showers and swimming.
- Do not touch, rub, exfoliate or pick the treated skin.
NEXT 3-7 DAYS
- Use a mild cleanser and bland fragrance-free moisturizer once your provider says it is appropriate.
- Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs, strong vitamin C and other irritating actives until healed.
- Avoid direct sun and tanning. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30-50 when advised by your provider; protect with shade and a hat in the meantime.
- Do not schedule peels, IPL or other aggressive facial procedures until the skin has fully recovered and your provider approves.
WHEN TO SEEK HELP
- Increasing redness after the initial recovery period, pus, fever, spreading warmth, significant swelling or severe pain may indicate a complication and require prompt medical assessment.
IMPORTANT: These are general guidelines. Follow your treating professional and device-specific instructions, especially after deeper or combination treatments. If a product causes stinging or irritation, stop using it and contact your provider.
